Frida Kahlo is undoubtedly the most popular Mexican artist in the world. She made history in Art with her poignant works and powerful self-portraits.
Even today, she remains an undeniable icon in the art world, as well as for her political and feminist activism in a patriarchal Mexico marked by gender inequality.
In the 1950s, Frida Kahlo painted many still lifes.
Between 1951 and 1954, her image almost disappeared from her paintings. Here, she used fruits, a bird, and Mexican objects to convey a political message about nationalism and Mexico's independence.
